Softwood- Grade one Southern Yellow Pine
 |
Appearance
The natural honey colour gradually weathers and bleaches to a soft silvery-white colour. The warm tone blends beautifully with plants, trees and is very sympathetic with gravel, natural stone and pebbles
High strength
Independent tests carried out by TRADA Technology, the Internationally recognised timber research authority, has certified that Southern Yellow Pine is superior to other softwoods from around the world.
|
Environmental
Southern Yellow Pine is only harvested from USA managed forests.
Screw & bolt holding
The ability of southern yellow pine to hold fasteners is among the highest of all softwoods. The kiln-drying before and after treatment enables this.
Durability
Southern yellow pine is highly resistant to wear: therefore, it is suitable for floorings, decks, marinas, boardwalks and other high traffic applications.
Treatment
Southern yellow pine is also one of the easiest softwoods to pressure treat with preservatives. Kiln drying before and after treatment allows 99% penetration of the treatment and locks the treatment into the wood cells making the lumber safer, cleaner and a lot longer lasting. It also minimises shrinkage problems, provides greater strength and stiffness and also allows more uniformity in size.
WHY NO GROVES
The decks boards have a natural grip from the pronounced grain in the timber and there is no need to groove the wood, which in our opinion, is more difficult to clean, traps dirt and water and then allows moss etc to grow.
