All plants appreciate being planted in a suitable and well prepared site. Generally, the better the soil, the quicker they will become established. It is best to choose plants that are suited to the conditions you can offer. If the soil is very light and dries out quickly its condition can be improved by adding to it well rotted farmyard manure or garden compost. Before planting, weeds should be cleared and ensure that each plant has room to grow to its full size and that their roots can spread out into the surrounding soil where they will take up water and nutrients.
